Eligibility and Access. The Service is available only to students currently enrolled at accredited universities who successfully verify a valid institutional email address (e.g., @university.edu). Only verified users may register, log in, access user profiles, or view listings.
No Sale of Personal Information. We do not sell your personal information. We comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and other applicable privacy laws.
1. Information We Collect
- Information You Provide Directly: Name, institutional email, username, major, bio, listing content (text, images, location descriptors, contact info).
Legal basis under GDPR: performance of a contract and your consent. - Automatically Collected Information: Usage data (pages viewed, clicks), device/browser data (IP address, user agent), cookies and similar technologies.
- Third-Party Integrations: AWS EC2, AWS S3, AWS SES, and other processors under Data Processing Agreements.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve the Service (authentication, listings, search).
- To enforce eligibility and access controls via institutional email verification.
- To communicate account-related messages and marketing emails (with opt-in).
- For analytics and diagnostics to optimize performance.
- To detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Use.
3. Cookies & Tracking
- Essential Cookies: Required to maintain login sessions and enforce access for verified users.
4. Sharing & Disclosure
- Your public listings, username, general location, and profile are visible only to other registered and verified users.
- We share data with vendors under contract who assist with hosting, email delivery, analytics, and image storage.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, property, or safety.
5. Data Security & Retention
- Security: HTTPS for data in transit, secure token storage, regular security reviews.
- Breach Notification: In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by law.
- Retention Periods: We retain your data for as long as your account is active or as legally required. If you delete your account, personal data is purged after a reasonable period.
